so I colored my hair

I colored it a light brown. It looks a little reddish brown. I only dyed half of it. The top half. I refuse to dye the back because for the past few years, the back of my hair was the weakest part of my hair. So I don't think I will be dying the back for atleast a year or more. I will take a picture of it and post it when my hair is done or in better lighting. Happy Sabbath (night) ladies and I hope you have a blessed weekend.

My hurrr

Lately I've been doing a lot of twists as my protective style. They are easy to put in, easy to take out and last for a good little while.

Last weeks twists: on Tuesday of last week (8.24.10) I washed my hair, and then did a placenta hot oil treatment. I left the hot oil treatment in all night and rinsed it out before work the next day. The hot oil treatment had my hair feeling so soft and amazing! After rinsing I parted my hair to braid for stretching (so I could wear a bun to my interview). During the stretching I put Cantu shea leave-in and the growth oil on the individual parts to let it dry.

During the drying my hair felt great. It was soft and moisturized (I couldn't keep my hands out my hair all day!). The next day I took it down (in the evening) and brushed it back into a ponytail. I used 100% african shea butter mixed with E.V. Coconut Oil on my edges to slick them back (a hot mess by the way). Friday I was going to re-wash but decided against it because my hair is not used to being washed so frequently. I ended up doing some more two strand twists, they were way bigger than the last ones I did. After finishing the two strand twists I curled them with flexi rods to have a little curl in them for Sabbath. Here is what I came up with...

I actually don't like this pic but I liked the hairstyle.

I wore these twists until Tuesday. I took them out Tues afternoon and washed and did a baking soda deep condition (which was amazing by the way). I put about 1/2 c. of Olive Oil Cholesterol and 1/2 c. Panteen Pro-V Ice Shine conditioner in a small mixer, then eye balled about 1/4 c. baking soda and mixed it all together. It turned into an amazingly creamy conditioner.
I got the inspiration from sheacocoaluv on YT.

I decided to do my first protective style which was flat twists in the front and two strand twists in the back. I did this on wet hair which is why I have the shrunken look, but I actually like it a lot! I pull on my twists to see my length and am happy with what I see.

I'm getting better with the twists! :o)

Matthew & Mark

So, yesterday I completed Mark and just want to recap on what went on in both Matthew and Mark. I enjoyed reading both books and liked the way the same story was told but by different people. To see what one added and the other left out and vice versa was entertaining. :)

Matthew: There was so much content in Matthew! He first started out with the lineage of Christ which when you first read it you're like umm....ok, I can't pronouce half these names...this is boring, lets move on. BUT I actaully sat and read the lineage and it was pretty cool. To see the family that Jesus was born into was nice. Moving on to chapter 5 , the Beattitudes! I really want to commit those to memory, I feel like they are good to know and help others with as we try and minister to those around us (another goal of mine). There are many times in my life that had I been able to recite one of those beattitudes then the situation that I was in would have been a lot better. Matt 6 & 7, I love 6:9-13 because it teaches us the Lord's Prayer. I was in church 2 weeks ago and heard the woman giving the children's story say the Lord's Prayer in words that children would understand...it was amazing! I never thought to disect the Lord's Prayer but once I did I found that it is such an amazing  prayer! I also loved 6:23 which tells us not to worry about our lives. Not what we will eat or drink, our bodies, or what we'll wear because life is about more than that! He tells us to look at the birds, they don't sow or reap but they are always fed and taken care of and then tells us that we are more valuable than they. What's the point of worrying, He says, you can't add another inch to your height by worrying, you can't change the outcome of anything by worrying so CHILL!!!
Matt 7:7 & 8  "Ask and it will be given to you, seek, and you will find; knowck, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened." I read this right when I needed to! I was doing the 'doubting Thomas' thing and just needed a word from the Lord and that day I read this chapter. It helped tremendously!!
I enjoyed seeing the power of God work during this book as He healed those who were blind, sick, raised the dead, and so on! And then it happened, Matt 9:12&13 Jesus went off! He said that those who are well don't need a doctor but those who are sick do. Then He said He didn't come to save the righteous but the sinners... that made me laugh SO hard!! It made me laugh because He knows that there are no righteous except through Him, so to say that He didn't come for the righteous was too funny to me!
Skipping through to Matt 12:30-32 "He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad. Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; bt whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come." This was so powerful to me! I didn't understand this at first and ended up asking my dad what that meant. His explanation to me was that the Spirit is the one who moves you, and to reject Him or to speak against Him is to deny Christ (I think). I'm gonna have to ask again and write it down this time! When he said it made PERFECT sense! I thought of it as the Holy Spirit being your moral compass and rejecting Him or speaking ill of Him was denying the Son and the Father! Let me know what you all gather from this.
Matt 24 was all about things we can expect to see in the end times, which of course we know is going on right now! In reading this chapter it gave me a stronger desire to study the Word of God because He has mapped it all out for us. He has told us what we need to do. The gift of salvation is FREE we just need to stop being stupid and take the gift! Is anything that we are doing right now in our lives worth not being able to spend eternity with our Creator!?
Matt 27 & 28 told the story of the Crucifixion. These two chapters made me so angry yet in a way they put a smile on my face! Obviously you know why it made me angry but it put a smile on my face because Jesus knew what was going to happen. He knew that He would rise in 3 days as He said He would and His work would be finished. How stupid of the priests, scribes and Pharisees! They knew He was straight from heaven and the Son of God, they didn't want to admit it because then they would look like fools for what they had been preaching. I can go on and on about how stupid they were but I won't cause this will be 3 pages long!!

Mark: I was surprised by how short Mark was. I was expecting it to be about the same length as Matthew. I enjoyed the way that Mark included things that Matthew left out. Such as in Mark 4 35-41when he told the story of the disciples on the boat and the storm came. Matthew only tells that He reubked the winds and the sea but Mark tells that Jesus spoke to the wind and sea and said "Peace be still!" I love it! Same story different versions.
There are some people in my life that I am having trouble forgiving, for lack of a better word, and Mark 11:25 & 26 spoke to this. How can I expect forgiveness if I can't forgive? Why would the Lord forgive me if I'm holding on to ill thoughts or feelings towards someone? This touched me in a way that I have now asked God to guide me in what I should do regarding these people. Should I reach out to them, tell them how I feel and then leave it alone? Whatever He tells me to do regarding these people I will do and will be able to say that I have forgiven that way I will be able to be forgiven!
Because Mark was so short and had similar if not the same stories as Matthew I will not go into detail about specific verses.

Can't wait to see what Luke and John have in store for me! :o)
